“Taking a different path to keep growing? Yes, please”

“I’ve been a stability engineer at edibosud for two years now. After graduating as an urban planning engineer, I worked for another construction company for two years before starting my edibosud adventure in January of 2020 – first as a project manager.”

“I quickly realised that the company I now worked for really takes their employees’ wishes and wellbeing into account. Even more, they genuinely support positive career changes that help you grow professionally. That’s how I ultimately ended up in the stability department.”

“That was one of the main reasons why I truly wanted to work at edibosud. I was looking for a workplace that wasn’t overcrowded and, more importantly, a place where an open mind and kindness lead the way. My colleagues are living proof that that is exactly what I found – I can always count on their help and support.”

“In short, I have been welcomed into a company that operates on a human level where everyone has a decent understanding of one another and we all like to work closely together. It’s safe to say that our team is perfectly attuned, just like one big happy family.”

“An all-embracing function that makes me smarter every day”

“You can divide my function into two: on the one hand, there’s the tendering stage, on the other hand there’s the execution stage. After studying the architectural designs, the potential construction scenarios and the specified building standards, we decide – together with the team’s salesmen – on the best possible approach. From that viewpoint, I dimension the buildings and I hand over my work – with my detailed report – to the salesman who in turn uses this as a basis for the tender. If the tender is approved, the execution stage can commence.”

“During the implementation, I doublecheck my measurements and research optimisations. I go even further into detail in this stage, definitely in the field of installation and assembly. I then make sure the work planner can begin the 2D and 3D modelling process. Subsequently, it is time for the entire team – salesman, project manager, site manager and myself – to review everything together one final time before handing the entire file over to the project manager to start up the site works. Even though most of my work takes place behind my desk, I do visit the site every now and then. In short, I get to thrive in a very versatile function.”

An uncommon project as a beautiful memory

If we ask Emanuela which edibosud project has left the biggest impression on her, she answers without hesitation.

“In my role as stability engineer, that will definitely be Project Mopet in Neufchâteau which was my first big ‘baby’: a waste processing company of nearly 20 metres high is not something you come across every day. It was really exciting to see my project go over to the execution stage.”

Music as energizer

Outside of work, Emanuela finds new energy in her music.

“I have been playing piano since I was five years old. After a short break during my student years, I joyfully picked up my old hobby again. It really delights me to take my place behind the keys after a busy day at work. Last year, I also started learning how to play the violin – another new challenge that I love putting my all in!”

Also included on Emanuela’s list of fun things: travel, lots and lots of travel. But now, it is first time to tackle one of the most beautiful challenges to ever cross her path – one she will no doubt turn into a blessed success: her brand-new baby.
